It is in this context that, for the upcoming school year, the city is offering an apprenticeship position within the technical and road service, with the aim of hiring an: Apprentice heavy vehicle driver (CFC). The heavy vehicle driver operates different types of vehicles (waste collection trucks, flatbeds, with trailers or semi-trailers) used for transporting goods, waste, or other items over short or long distances and must: have completed their schooling; be at least 18 years old and hold a category B driver's license; officially reside in Switzerland, due to the regulations regarding driving licenses to be acquired during the apprenticeship; appreciate being frequently traveling; have good visual acuity; have the ability to adapt to an irregular schedule and be willing to start their day at 6 a.m.; have a good sense of direction; have strong nerve resilience and be able to manage stress; have the ability to work independently; have an interest in public service; provide the aptitude test (once selected, pass a medical examination to verify their ability to learn). You will learn to: organize transportation and plan routes, calculate costs; fill out formalities and study the regulations in force; check the operation and maintain the vehicles and/or trailers; load and unload goods using various handling and lifting means; distribute and secure loads in the vehicle to protect the goods and prevent damage; drive a truck under variable and potentially difficult conditions (traffic, weather), use onboard electronics, use loading cranes; ensure the collection of waste, transport, and delivery of goods or items while complying with the regulations in force; perform routine maintenance on the vehicle, wash it and keep it in good condition.
