General Information Company: Pi Imaging Technology – a Zeiss company Location: Lausanne, Switzerland Contacts: info@piimaging.com Position: Full time Description Pi Imaging Technology is a fabless semiconductor company creating single-photon detector arrays with very high sensitivity and low noise. We enable our partners to introduce innovative products; the end-users of these products perform cutting-edge science in the life sciences (confocal microscopy, fluorescence (FLIM) imaging) and quantum information. The technology is based on single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) designed in standard semiconductor technology. This enables photon-counting arrays with megapixel resolution and adaptable architectures. These arrays are integrated in plug-and-play products and supported through both FPGA firmware and C++ software to deliver a smooth operating experience to the end-users. Position description In this position you will work in a small electronics engineering team, covering a wide range of tasks related to the development of new and existing products. Most notably: -\tDevelop FPGA firmware and software for a high-speed serial communication interface -\tDevelop PCBs for high-speed serial communication/storage solutions together with high-bandwidth connections for the detector arrays -\tVerify firmware and software and fix bugs reported by end-users -\tPerform initial bring-up and characterization of new detectors -\tProcure components and assembly services for prototypes -\tPerform assembly of proof-of-concept / prototypes Qualifications -\tPh.D. in electronics engineering or related field -\tExcellent verbal and written communications skills in English Required skills -\tAbility to execute multiple tasks efficiently and independently -\tStrong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in a team -\tAdvanced knowledge and experience in C++, VHDL and Altium Designer -\tKnowledge and experience in designing FPGA firmware in VHDL with tight timing constraints -\tExperience with high-speed serial communication (for example Xilinx Aurora, PCI-E) -\tExperience with test and measurement requirements -\tExperience in using data analysis software like python or similar Nice-to-have skills -\tKnowledge in statistics (Poisson and exponential distributions) -\tFamiliarity with semiconductor technology -\tFamiliarity with required testing to validate their semiconductor chips What to expect You’ll join a collaborative team, with the possibility to expand your microelectronics knowledge and participate in different development projects. A great opportunity to work on a cutting-edge technology in a flexible and dynamic working environment.
