We are looking for an Assessment Officer to support our team in Nigeria.

Location and Contract Dakar, Senegal. Contract duration: 9 months (pending funding confirmation). Starting date: 15 June 2026. Deadline to apply: 15 May 2026.

Project Profile The position is recruited for the Third Party Monitoring (TPM) Project covering FCDO’s Humanitarian and Resilience Programme (HARP) Facility. IMPACT has entered into a consortium with FACT Foundation and, while in Nigeria, staff shall be hosted by FACT.

Functions Under the line management of the IMPACT Research Manager, based in Nigeria, the Assessment Officer is directly responsible for the implementation of the research for the TPM Project. Responsibilities include preparation, data collection, data analysis, drafting and dissemination of research products under the purview of the TPM Project.

Responsibilities Research Planning and Implementation

Prepare Terms of References for research cycles related to the TPM Project and ensure validation by HQ before data collection.

Prepare and keep up‑to‑date Secondary Data Reviews related to the TPM Project.

Develop the research design, create data analysis plans, and, in conjunction with the data team, build tools (questionnaires), participate in data cleaning, and conduct data analyses.

Support the RM with stakeholder engagement as part of the research design and dissemination.

Liaise closely with the FACT Foundation team and integrate the work of their assessment and data/GIS officers into the consortium’s research workstreams.

Alert the line manager and IMPACT HQ to any issues preventing full implementation of the methodology and document any changes, ensuring formal validation by IMPACT HQ.

Ensure that data and its analysis are validated by IMPACT HQ before product drafting and that personal information is excluded before sharing with external parties.

Drafting of Research Products

Draft timely and accurate outputs that consolidate analyses from each research cycle into factsheets, reports, briefs, presentations, etc., in compliance with IMPACT’s guidelines and quality standards.

Ensure the products accurately reflect the information collected and convey it in an impact‑maximising way.

Liaise with GIS colleagues to ensure effective spatial representation of findings.

Follow the designated timeline of reports to be submitted to project partners and donors, reporting delays or challenges promptly.

Ensure all written products are validated by IMPACT HQ before release to donors and implementing partners.

External Engagement

Support the RM and CC with stakeholder engagement, presentations, and workshops where warranted.

Represent IMPACT in relevant meetings and working groups after validation by the RM or CC.

Present research findings to FCDO and implementing partners after validation.

Document and communicate all partner engagement and external relations with the line manager and colleagues.

Contribute to the organization’s positive image and overall credibility, upholding IMPACT’s mandate, ethics, values, and standpoint.

Team Management and Capacity Building

Provide line management to international and national assessment staff where necessary.

Conduct appraisals, provide regular feedback, and participate in career management for staff under responsibility.

Co‑operate with the RM and CC to conduct induction for new staff members, including basic training in technical competences for research design, implementation, and analysis.

Internal Coordination

Actively participate in regular team meetings.

Ensure regular coordination and exchange with relevant colleagues.

Engage in the development and implementation of IMPACT’s strategy for Nigeria.

Data Confidentiality and Protection

Maintain strict confidentiality on all data and related processes, ensuring full compliance with IMPACT’s data protection policy and SOPs.

Take active measures to prevent unauthorized sharing of information and data belonging to IMPACT and its partners.

Requirements

Academic: Excellent academic qualifications, preferably including a master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

Work experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian settings such as assessments, monitoring and evaluation, research design and analysis; familiarity with the aid system is required; TPM experience is an asset.

Research skills: Proven experience with complex research methods; excellent analytical skills in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

Software skills: Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced skills in R, SPSS and/or STATA (or other statistical software); experience with InDesign is an asset.

Communication/reporting skills: Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting.

Multi‑tasking skills: Ability to multitask with tight deadlines across multiple research cycles.

Level of independence: Proven ability to work independently.

Cross‑cultural work environment: Ability to operate in a cross‑cultural environment requiring flexibility.

Experience in geographical region: Past experience in the region is desirable.

Language skills: Fluency in English required.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary between 2 460 CHF and 2 520 CHF monthly (before income tax); salary determined by the salary grid and security adjustment for difficult work environments.

Monthly living allowance of 300 USD.

Accommodation provided in a guesthouse.

Enrolment in Swiss private pension fund (~9.975 % of gross salary), health insurance, life insurance, and repatriation assistance.

Flight tickets every 6 months and visa fees covered.

Contribution to luggage transportation (20–100 kg depending on contract length, with personal property insurance).

Annual leave of 36 days per year plus public holidays in the country of assignment; family/compassionate leave when applicable.

Pre‑departure induction: 3 days at IMPACT HQ in Geneva plus one week pre‑departure training in Acted HQ in Paris, including 4 days in‑situ security training.

Psychological safety prioritized; health insurance covers up to 1 000 € per year of psychosocial counselling fees.
