Job Description
Purpose :
* Development, scale-up and implementation of chemical processes for new intermediates/active ingredient or new synthesis routes at industrial scale making sure that at any given time the process is safe and compliant with legal and internal HSE rules.
* Support and provide recommendations to production to deliver supply chain and site needs in terms of capacity, quality, costs and sustainability.
* Continuous improvement of one or more chemical processes, in established production lines or for news processes, to make them robust and sustainable at the best cost.
* Support of process troubleshooting issues.
Responsibilities :
* Make sure that at any given time the process is safe and compliant with legal and internal HSE rules.
* Define and agree development work in agreement with the stakeholders.
* Plan and follow development work done in the laboratory. Carry out scale-up and support full-scale plant trials to test new and/or improved manufacturing processes to meet agreed Supply Chain targets in collaboration with production.
* Participate in the commissioning of new or modified plants, taking part in technical start-up teams, to ensure that design intent is met, and production is established safely and effectively.
* Provide proactive technical support to production team and arrange support work to assist in the solution of process problems to permit restoration of satisfactory and continued improvement production performance.
* Understand the requirements of the supply chain and take a leading role (in the delivery of objectives as required). If required act as the Technology Lead for an Active Ingredient, or specific steps within.
* Provide expertise in process engineering and be the contact for project teams in this area. Be part of technical networks to be up-to-date on new technologies and last innovations
* Supply technical information / expert advice to Process Risk Assessments; work with company experts (eg Process Hazards) to ensure relevant information is available when required.
Qualifications
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent (minimum Master, PhD optional)
* Industrial experience of 2 years.
* Detailed knowledge of systems for process changes and the potential implications on product quality - formulation, regulatory, etc.
* Experience and knowledge of process engineering, process definition & design (plant & equipment design, automation, simulation), scale-up, plant establishment, manufacturing support.
* Teamworking in multi-functional groups, both within Process Technology and externally.
* Good communication skills.
