Job Title: Underwriter - Construction Risks (EMEA Region)
We are seeking an experienced underwriter to manage and develop our construction insurance portfolio across the EMEA region, focusing on Contractors All Risks (CAR) and Erection All Risks (EAR) policies, on both single project and annual basis. This role involves underwriting, client relationship management, and contributing to the development of our portfolio in accordance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Produce new business from the EMEA region in construction insurance policies and facultative reinsurance.
2. Contribute to portfolio development aligned with underwriting policies and global business strategies.
3. Support the commercial activity in German-speaking markets and continental Europe, collaborating with other Lines of Business.
4. Provide technical and language expertise to the Global Construction teams.
5. Underwrite risks, assess insurability, and determine appropriate terms and conditions.
6. Identify new business opportunities to develop a profitable profile.
7. Build and maintain relationships with clients, brokers, and ceding companies.
8. Visit clients and project sites (approx. 10-20 days/year).
9. Promote SCOR’s offerings through seminars, forums, and marketing materials.
10. Collaborate with colleagues within the SCOR network to optimize responses to business opportunities.
11. Manage the in-force portfolio focusing on profitability and data accuracy.
12. Oversee contract administration, including endorsements, renewals, and claims.
13. Ensure data integrity in IT systems and supervise back-office processes.
14. Coordinate with claims teams to inform underwriting decisions.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance, with exposure to international construction risks.
* Experience working with the German-speaking markets (DACH) is essential.
* Mechanical Engineering degree and/or recognized professional insurance qualifications.
* Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills.
* Ability to travel as needed.
* Proactive, team-oriented, and internationally minded.
* Active engagement in global construction initiatives.
* Enquiring mindset, self-discipline, and decision-making capabilities.
* Organized, able to prioritize under pressure, and capable of summarizing key information.
