POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Instructional, Curriculum & Assessment Coach
FACILITY: Crow Agency Public School, Fort Smith Elementary School, Hardin Primary School
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Instructional/Curriculum and Assessment Coach will work as a colleague with the Curriculum team along with classroom teachers throughout the school district to support student learning. The Coach will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding about evidence-based effective instruction. The Coach will provide personalized support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers and grade-level/content groups.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions
2. Observe classroom instruction, provide constructive feedback, and demonstrate/model best practice teaching strategies in all buildings in the district
3. Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies that engage all students
4. Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for instructional staff
5. Demonstrate knowledge using a variety of assessment tools
6. Provide support in analyzing student assessment data
7. Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data
8. Assist teachers with specific instructional classroom lessons when requested
9. Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies
10. Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum
11. Monitor intervention programs by observing and meeting with teachers
12. Instruct and support teachers with curriculum software products and classroom/curriculum-related technologies
13. Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues
14. Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers to improve student learning
15. Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers
16. Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning
17. Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals
18. Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction, and assessments
19. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers
20. Obtain advance approval of the Principal/Curriculum Director for unique activities and expenditures
21. Perform other duties as assigned by the Curriculum Director for the purpose of enhancing instruction

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION:
Valid Montana Teacher Certification with proper endorsement
Master’s Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in evidence-based instructional practices
Proficiency with curriculum software
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
1. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
2. Ability to plan lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and school community

Compensation
Salary Range 2024-25 $36,949.25 – $62,034.04 DOE. (SY2025-26 certified salary in contract negotiation)
Credit on the salary schedule will be given for up to nine (9) years contracted teaching experience. A bonus of $1,500.00 will be added to the contracted amount for those teachers who hold an MA degree.

Community
Big Horn County, Montana is rich in history, culture and time-honored traditions. It Includes the Crow and Northern Cheyenne Reservations. Hardin (county seat) is situated on the banks of the Bighorn River and the edge of the Crow Reservation. The town is surrounded by productive farms and ranches. Coal mining has also contributed greatly to the local economy. Hardin, is located 46 miles southeast of Billings (largest city in the State) by way of Interstate 90. The Big Horn County Museum, Little Big Horn Battlefield and Chief Plenty Coups State Park provide interesting and important history of the area. The scenic Big Horn, Pryor and Wolf Mountain ranges are part of the Big Horn County landscape. Yellowtail Dam offers a majestic view of the water below. The spectacular Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area is host to water sports. This area of Big Sky Country also offers fishing, hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, camping, etc. for the outdoor enthusiast. Annual events in Big Horn County include: Little Big Horn Days, Native Days, Crow Fair, 4H County Fair, rodeos.
