Your Responsibilities
We are seeking a Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and roll out of a state-of-the-art motion-controlled high-pressure rinsing system for SRF cavities.
This challenging assignment involves a number of technologies, offering an excellent opportunity for growth in both technical expertise and process management.
The selected candidate will collaborate with CERN scientists, engineers, and technical experts to assess and develop required processes for SRF cavity preparation specifications.
You will conceptualise and design the equipment, carrying out structural calculations and performance optimisation.
Apart from designing equipment adapted to cleanroom environments, you will also model, size, and source equipment compliant with EC machinery directives and sound engineering practice.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following fields:
* Design of automated process equipment featuring motion control
* Design of fluid handling systems (metering, distribution, flow + pressure control)
* Design of thermal chambers, preferably vacuum or controlled atmosphere
* Design of filtration-pump plants / skids for pharmaceutical, semiconductor or nuclear applications
Additionally, required skills include knowledge of computerized design tools for machinery, applied knowledge of the EC machine directive, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will hold a professional background in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) with either a Master's degree and 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
Benefits include a monthly stipend ranging between CHF 6212 and CHF 6828 per month, coverage by our comprehensive health scheme, membership of our Pension Fund, installation grant, family, child, and infant allowances, payment of travel expenses, and up to 30 days of paid leave per year. On-the-job and formal training as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French are also provided.
