Job Description

Job Summary

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Construction Field Engineer II is primarily responsible for providing technical engineering information to company supervision and crafts to ensure construction work associated with E&I aspects of a project comply with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. Responsibilities include managing one or more technical disciplines related to E&I within a medium-sized operation or project, including ensuring technical quality, conformance to corporate and departmental policies, procedures, and industry norms. Individuals may have line management responsibility for technical personnel in various disciplines or responsibility for the technical quality of multiple disciplines on a project.

Essential Functions

* Actively support the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.
* Represent the Company with high moral standards, adhering to the “Code of Business Conduct”.
* Provide technical and engineering support to the construction team.
* Assist in the administration, planning, coordination, and monitoring of the technical side of the project.
* Review and comment on the constructability of designs; conduct value-engineering functions.
* Maintain responsibility for resolving technical field issues and documenting final installations.
* Manage distribution and control of all drawings and specifications for field use, including maintaining accurate copies of redlined and As-Built drawings.
* Manage the field Request for Information (RFI) process and maintain RFI logs.
* Assist with preparing Scopes of Works (SOW) for subcontractors and suppliers, including technical & commercial bid evaluations and contract execution.
* Assist in preparing change orders, reviewing subcontractor proposals for accuracy and conformance, and managing submittals.
* Maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors regarding technical RFIs and scope changes.
* Coordinate engineering studies and assist Discipline Leads in solving engineering and design problems.
* Participate in the creation and management of Construction and Installation Work Packages.
* Assist in systemizing project scope and preparing sub-system turnover packages.
* Assist in mechanical completion punch list walk-downs and sign-offs.
* Provide technical assistance to QA/QC, Supply Chain, Subcontracts, HSE, and Project Controls departments to ensure project completion and turnover.
* Work on special projects as assigned by the supervisor or Sr. Construction Engineer.
* Participate in collecting, maintaining, and communicating project constructability concepts and lessons learned.
* Perform other related duties as directed.

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; PE or EIT license preferred.
* At least 4 years of experience in heavy construction engineering, focusing on Electrical and Instrumentation scopes.
* Knowledge of industrial electrical and instrumentation installation, including cable tray, conduit routing, cable terminations, and switchgear/VFD installation.
* Experience with Advance Workface Planning (AWP).
* Excellent communication skills; proficient with MS Word, Excel, SharePoint.
* Ability to work overtime as required.
* Strong organizational skills; capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
* Physical ability to conduct field inspections, including walking, climbing, working at heights, confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
* Use of PPE and fit testing for respirators required.
* Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
