Primary Purpose: The Behavior Coordinator will support campuses in creating and maintaining safe, structured, and positive learning environments by addressing student behavior needs. This role includes collaborating with administrators and teachers, monitoring behavior plans, providing staff training, and supporting students during crisis situations.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related field
* Valid Texas teaching certificate (preferred)
* Experience working with students with behavioral needs
* CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or similar training preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional and Program Management
* Collaborate with campus administrators, teachers, and support staff to address student behavior concerns
* Participate in problem‑solving teams, ARD/IEP meetings, and behavior intervention planning
* Provide guidance to administrators, teachers, and paras on best practices for classroom management and behavior supports
Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
* Monitor implementation and effectiveness of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
* Assist in developing, revising, and ensuring fidelity of BIPs
* Analyze behavior data to inform instructional and behavioral decisions
Training & Professional Development
* Develop and provide ongoing professional development for teachers and staff on effective behavior management strategies
* Train staff on de‑escalation techniques, behavior interventions, and proactive classroom practices
* Provide coaching and modeling of appropriate behavior techniques in classroom settings
Student Behavior & Crisis Management
* Respond to and assist with student behavioral crises as needed
* Support campuses in administering appropriate discipline in alignment with district policies
* Utilize de‑escalation strategies to maintain student and staff safety
Student Support
* Provide direct behavior support and training for students to improve self‑regulation and social skills, including special education and general education students
* Teach and reinforce positive behavior strategies with students
* Support implementation of district behavior frameworks
* Conference with parents to provide behavior management support
Compliance & Documentation
* Maintain accurate documentation related to behavior incidents, interventions, and supports
* Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines regarding student behavior
Skills & Abilities
* Strong knowledge of behavior management strategies and interventions
* Ability to de‑escalate crisis situations effectively
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
* Strong organizational and data analysis skills
* Knowledge of ARD process and IEP implementation
Working Conditions
* Frequent interaction with students exhibiting challenging behaviors
* May require physical intervention consistent with district training
* Travel between campuses as needed
