What You’ll Do
Design & Development
* Lead mechanical design of the illumicell AI imaging system from prototype through production.
* Own device mechanical design and prototyping, including CAD models, drawings, and work instructions/protocols.
* Design for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), and reliability.
* Support consumable selection, development, and manufacturing.
* Contribute to system integration and testing.
* Contribute to design control, risk management, and regulatory documentation.
Device Manufacturing, Testing, & Verification
* Support hardware manufacturing efforts, including working with outside suppliers and guiding internal builds.
* Plan and execute component and system level testing to verify device performance.
* Analyze results, identify issues, and drive design improvements.
Collaboration & Oversight
* Collaborate with electrical, software, optics, clinical, and regulatory teams.
* Contribute to design controls, risk management, and technical documentation (ISO 13485 environment).
What We’re Looking For
Background & Experience
* Proven track record delivering complex hardware systems.
* Hands‑on experience with mechanical design (CAD, prototyping) and cross‑functional system integration (mechanical, electrical, and software).
* Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing processes for low‑to‑mid volume production.
Technical Expertise
* Proficiency in CAD (OnShape, SolidWorks) and revision control practices.
* Strong understanding of tolerancing, materials, and manufacturing methods.
* Experience with system‑level testing and performance validation.
Profile
* Strategic, hands‑on, detail‑oriented. Executes fast without compromising quality.
* Based in Zurich, with on‑site presence and flexible remote days depending on project needs.
Bonus Qualifications (Nice‑to‑Have)
* Start‑up or scale‑up experience.
* Background in diagnostics, digital pathology, or medical imaging.
