The 3.75-year PhD position within the BoBiColAS project (Boosting Biodiversity through Collaborative Agri-Environmental Schemes) is part of the Swiss National Research Programme 82 "Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services". Using a transdisciplinary approach the project is carried out at Agroscope in Switzerland, in collaboration with the Agricultural Office of the Cabton of Aargau as the societal partner, the University of Aberdeen (Scotland), and a wide range of national partners from both practice and research.
Agroscope is the Swiss centre of excellence for agricultural research. The project brings together ecologists, economists and social scientists working agricultural and environmental issues. The PhD is being completed at ETH Zurich's Department of Environmental Systems Science (supervised by Prof Dr Eva Lieberherr) and is based in Agroscope's Socioeconomics research group.

Additional Information
The 'Socioeconomics' Research Group deals with the social dimension of sustainability in agriculture, setting it in relation to economic factors. In addition to conducting interviews and surveys, work economics, with its systematic recording of working-time requirement on farms, plays an important role here. The Group works methodically with time measurements and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
