Mine Technician (Water Management)
Water management is a critical function for sustainable environmental management, mining, and processing operations. Reporting to the Water Management Superintendent, you will work collaboratively with the environment, mining, and metallurgy departments.
Accountabilities:
1. Conduct inspections, monitoring, and reporting of dams, including assessment against Trigger, Action, and Response Plans, and take appropriate actions.
2. Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting, with proficiency in MS Excel and real-time monitoring programs.
3. Collaborate with water planning engineers and the dewatering team to identify and implement improvements to the water management system.
4. Safely install and operate instrumentation such as vibrating wire piezometers, water level sensors, and flowmeters.
5. Assist with asset management of infrastructure like pumps, pipelines, lime treatment plants, compressors, and generators.
6. Support lime stock management with water planning engineers.
7. Work closely with the environmental team to meet water management objectives.
8. Coordinate with the Mining Technical Services team on asset management and instrumentation.
9. Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and external contractors for construction, maintenance, and repairs.
Successful applicant will have:
* Computer literacy, especially MS Excel and Word
* Manual driver’s license
* Experience with water management instrumentation (preferred)
* Experience with data management systems (e.g., SCADA) (desirable)
* Experience with external compliance reporting (desirable)
* Surveying experience (desirable)
