HEIG-VD is seeking a PhD candidate in AI for the analysis of river ecosystems.
Freshwater ecosystems are currently degrading, affecting their ecological integrity and services. This project aims to develop AI models for processing satellite and in situ data, integrating these into geographic information systems. The position is part of a European project in collaboration with multiple partners.
MAIN MISSIONS:
1. Develop solutions for collecting and integrating multi-source, multi-scale data from remote sensing (satellite images) and in-situ sensors.
2. Design and develop predictive models using AI and machine learning techniques.
3. Integrate AI-based models into geographic information systems.
4. Organize meetings and research visits with project partners.
5. Complete PhD coursework and participate in teaching activities.
REQUIRED PROFILE:
* Master's degree in Data Science or equivalent.
* Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning and AI.
* Experience in modeling satellite images.
* A strong interest in research and environmental issues.
* Autonomy, passion, rigor, and team working ability.
* Excellent communication, social, interpersonal skills, and fluency in English.
Activity rate: 100%
Starting date: 1 July 2025 or as agreed.
