About the Role
BakerHicks is a leading consultancy in the power transmission and distribution sector. They are seeking an ambitious engineer to support their growth.
This role involves designing and planning transmission-level onshore substations at voltages from 110kV to 400kV.
Responsibilities include:
1. Producing substation primary layouts, equipment specifications, rating calculations, short circuit force calculations, earthing studies, impressed voltage calculations, material specifications, fault calculations, wiring diagrams, protection requirements, and system modeling.
Proficiency in German is required, with a good level of English also desired.
The successful candidate will work closely with UK design teams to ensure compliance with local standards and deliver the design scope on time and within budget.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience in design, calculations, reports, and drawings for HV power transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, or HV renewable energy infrastructure is essential.
Full working proficiency in German is necessary, with a good level of English also desirable.
Specialist knowledge in High Voltage Substations is also required.
The ideal candidate will have a willingness to travel occasionally to offices in Basel and London.
