Offer Description Clean Room Manager
ETH Zurich - Center for Micro- and Nanoscience
The Clean Room Manager will oversee the daily operations and maintenance of an academic clean room environment, ensuring that they meet strict cleanliness, safety, and operational standards. The ideal candidate will manage a team of technicians and collaborate with scientific staff and users. The team provides services enabling ETH Zurich scientists to develop new technologies essential for their research.
The manager will report to the FIRST coordinator and support the research mission by liaising with the Vice President Research's office.
Responsibilities include operational duties within the clean room, experience in infrastructure maintenance, and hands-on skills with equipment such as deposition, growth, or lithography tools.
Profile Clean Room Operations Management:
Oversee daily clean room operations, ensuring performance and minimal downtime.
Coordinate upgrades, equipment installations, and repairs with users.
Manage infrastructure and key tools.
Coordinate with other ETH Zurich core facilities.
Plan for future relocation of the clean room to a new campus building.
Supervise training and evaluate team members.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure safety protocols are followed.
Manage documentation, safety manuals, and audit reports.
Budget and Inventory Management:
Manage budgets for supplies, equipment, and staffing.
Plan investments and procurements.
Experience:
7+ years in a clean room environment.
Proven team management skills.
Experience in photonics, nanotechnology, or electronics is a plus.
Skills in operating growth and lithography tools are assets.
PhD in a related discipline is required.
Skills:
Leadership and team management.
Knowledge of clean room standards, vacuum systems, filtration.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Fluent in English and German.
Team player with ability to work in strict cleanliness protocols.
