Test Engineer (Metrology)
As a Test Engineer (Metrology), you will work at the interface between development, quality assurance, and system testing. You will be responsible for validating our products (hardware, software, optics) and ensuring they meet the highest standards.
Responsibilities
* Test management & execution: Planning, execution and evaluation of verification and validation tests for our multifunctional devices (HW/SW/Optics/Mechanics).
* Experimental setups: Design, construction, automation, and maintenance of complex test systems. This also includes the procurement of equipment as well as the calibration and monitoring of measuring instruments.
* System & environmental tests: Conducting system tests (software, range tests for cameras/lasers) as well as environmental tests (temperature, vibration, shock) and requalification tests.
* Methodology: Development of test strategies according to international standards (e.g. MIL‑STD, ISO 9001/14001) and support in requirements engineering (e.g. with Jira).
* Collaboration: Close coordination with systems engineering, product management, R&D, and external laboratories. They also support sales through analyses and simulations for specific customer requirements.
* Documentation: Creation of precise technical testing and release documentation.
Required Profile
They possess systems thinking skills, a hands‑on mentality, and enjoy working interdisciplinarily in a technologically demanding environment.
* Education: University degree (ETH, FH, Uni) in electrical engineering, physics, mechatronics or a comparable technical field.
* Technical expertise: Sound technical understanding in at least one of the following areas: optics/physics, electronics, software, mechanics, surveying or metrology.
* Experience: Several years of experience in hardware/software testing, system integration, or product validation. Experience with the V‑model and knowledge of requirements engineering (IREB) or testing (ISTQB) are advantageous.
* Tools & Programming: Knowledge of a programming language (e.g. Python, C#) and analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, ImageJ) as well as experience with Jira and agile methods (Scrum, SAFe).
* Languages: Very good knowledge of German and English.
