Overview For a large Swiss energy client in Olten/Lausanne we are seeking a highly motivated professional for the interim role of Disaster Recovery Manager.
Our client is a leading Swiss energy services provider and electricity producer in Europe. The IT Trading Tools and Analysis team provides tools and support to permit day to day activities of Trading and Asset Management. The Interim Disaster Recovery (DR) Manager role is a key, but temporary, position within the DR Enablement project sponsored by the IT Risks, Processes, and Controls team. The DR Enablement project will establish the standards, processes, roles and governance to ensure OUR CLIENT has a robust approach to IT Disaster Recovery for its Business-Critical applications.
The Interim DR Manager reports to the DR Enablement project manager and is expected to lead teams in creating project deliverables according to the project plan. The expected duration of the role is 6-12 months, after which knowledge and responsibilities are transitioned to a permanent OUR CLIENT DR Manager.
Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and update Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and documentation (BAU)
Plan, coordinate, and execute periodic DR tests and technical recovery exercises
Activate and manage the technical execution of DR plans during disaster scenarios
Conduct and support Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and risk assessments to identify recovery priorities, dependencies, and service continuity requirements, including definition and validation of Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs)
Monitor compliance of DR strategies; provide evidence and reporting as needed
Coordinate training and awareness initiatives to ensure technical teams understand their roles in DR execution
Track and report on DR readiness metrics, test outcomes, and recovery performance to IT leadership and governance bodies
Maintain and oversee disaster recovery tools, infrastructure, and monitoring processes to ensure recovery systems are operational, tested, and aligned with recovery objectives
Participate in major incident response when recovery risks are involved, providing input on DR plan invocation, recovery feasibility, and technical dependencies
Your Responsibilities and Objectives Participate in the DR Enablement project as a core team member
Contribute to and lead or support teams in the creation of project Key Deliverables (KDs), including:
KD#02 DR Enablement Approach – Identification of dependencies and content for the new DR Standard
KD#03 DR Architecture – DR Architecture requirements and designs
KD#04 DR Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) – Application design and testing requirements for DR-readiness, On-/Off-boarding process changes
KD#05 DR Service Delivery – Monitoring tool requirements, DR process, Incident / BCM / Crisis Management Process integration, ITIL Incident & Problem management updates
KD#06 DR Tools – Data repositories and communication channels; synchronization with existing tools
KD#07 DR Reporting – Definition and development of BAU DR Reporting
KD#08 DR Testing Pilot – High-level DR Test Planning and DR Testing Pilot (1-2 applications)
KD#09 DR Governance – BAU DR Governance processes and enablers (meeting plans, templates, controls, reporting)
KD#10 DR Training – Training Plan and initial delivery for IT and Business stakeholders
Governance, IT Infrastructure and Business IT stakeholders to monitor DR readiness and performance
DR Testing Pilot – High-level planning and BAU execution
Your Profile Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT process engineering, IT operations, security and Disaster Recovery readiness planning and test execution
Experience in process documentation, analysis, and improvement within an IT context
Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset for measuring process performance and identifying improvement opportunities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with process owners and stakeholders across the organization
Proven ability to manage projects, including change management initiatives, with a track record of successful implementation
Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks and IT security control principles (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001, ITIL) with ability to translate control objectives into operational processes
Understanding of system integration concepts, API usage, and IT landscapes to identify automation and optimization opportunities
Advanced degrees or certifications in process management (e.g., Six Sigma, BPM) are highly desirable
Location 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
Start Date: 29.09.2025
End: 30.03.2026 – could be renewed for a further 12 months
