Network Engineer
Introduction:
A leading technology provider in the defense and security industry is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join its team in Switzerland. This role is part of a long-term collaboration on a high-impact project within the public defense sector.
About the Role:
The selected candidate will join the Field Engineering & Technical Support team, contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network systems supporting mission-critical operations.
Your Profile - Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience (minimum 5 years).
* Solid working knowledge of Linux, macOS, and Windows environments.
* Proven hands-on experience with:
* VLAN trunking and STP troubleshooting
* Enterprise-level routing
* Network protocols: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, ARP, HTTP/S, SSH, etc.
* Familiarity with scripting and automation tools to integrate with enterprise systems.
* Strong understanding of communication protocols (particularly TCP/IP) and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and maintain data communication networks, including fiber optics, twisted pair, IP systems, routers, switches, and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, secure network solutions.
* Monitor and ensure the reliability and performance of the global network infrastructure.
* Serve as a point of contact for internal teams requiring network-related support.
* Lead and support infrastructure expansions and upgrades.
* Maintain documentation including work orders, purchase orders, network diagrams, inventory, and budget tracking.
