Job Summary
Our OTC derivatives desk provides risk management and hedging solutions to a diverse range of counterparties across the commodity complex.
We are seeking a Junior Marketer & Execution Trader to join the team in Switzerland. The role combines trade execution responsibilities with broader commercial and market development support, working closely with the established derivatives team in London.
The successful candidate will act as the execution point for OTC derivatives transactions, formally confirming trades with counterparties once commercial terms have been agreed. The role requires responsiveness, accuracy and confidence operating in a fast-paced trading environment.
Alongside execution responsibilities, the position will support the desk’s marketing and research activities, helping identify new counterparties, preparing market materials and contributing to the expansion of the desk’s coverage beyond traditional energy markets into metals and soft commodities.
The role offers broad exposure across global commodity markets, providing an excellent foundation for someone looking to build a long-term career within commodity trading.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
* Execute OTC derivatives transactions on behalf of the desk, formally confirming trades with counterparties once commercial terms are agreed.
* Act as the primary execution contact for deals arranged by the London derivatives team, ensuring timely and accurate completion of transactions.
* Maintain clear and responsive communication with counterparties during trade execution.
* Prepare and distribute trade recaps, ensure accurate trade booking and manage internal confirmations following execution.
* Support the desk’s commercial and marketing activities, including identifying potential counterparties and researching new market opportunities.
* Assist with market analysis, reports, presentations and client materials used in marketing and business development.
* Contribute to the expansion of the desk’s coverage beyond energy into a broader range of commodities including metals and soft commodities.
* Provide general support to the derivatives team as the business grows.
* Degree in economics, finance, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline.
* Strong interest in commodity markets and derivatives trading.
* Ability to operate quickly and accurately in a fast-moving trading environment.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive, curious mindset with the ability to learn quickly across a range of commodity markets.
* Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Requirements
* Internship or prior exposure to commodity markets, trading, brokerage or financial markets.
* Familiarity with OTC derivatives and risk management products.
* Interest or knowledge across multiple commodity sectors including energy, metals and agricultural markets.
* Experience supporting market research, presentations or client materials.
