Overview
We are supporting a global industrial manufacturing organization with the appointment of a Global Category Manager Direct Materials, playing a key role in strengthening and future-proofing its international supply base.
This role has a strong focus on direct materials sourcing across complex, engineered categories and offers significant global exposure within a highly technical, project-driven environment.
Key responsibilities
* Define and deliver global category strategies across direct materials (e.g. machined parts, metals, electronics, C-parts, selected packaging)
* Lead and coordinate regional category managers and sourcing teams across multiple international hubs
* Drive cost competitiveness, supply resilience, quality, and on-time delivery across the direct materials portfolio
* Build and develop strategic supplier partnerships, including supplier development and capability building
* Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and quality to support new product introduction and lifecycle management
The ideal candidate profile
* Fluent in English; fluent German is of significant advantage
* Strong experience in Global or Regional Category Management within a manufacturing or machinery-led environment
* Proven background sourcing direct materials such as mechanical components, metals, electronics, or similar engineered parts
* Experience operating in complex, international supply chains with multiple sourcing locations
* A track record in leadership and leading teams (direct reports) and their future development
* Comfortable leading and influencing stakeholders across functions and geographies
* Degree-qualified in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
