Software Architect (a) – Adnovum
We are looking for a lead software engineer or experienced software architect to strengthen our team in Bern and support exciting projects in the public sector. This role requires taking the next step into software architecture while maintaining a hands‑on coding approach.
What you'll do
* Lead technical direction of developers and integrators, including decision‑making authority
* Act as primary point of contact for stakeholders, closely collaborating with project managers, clients, and other parties during planning and implementation
* Design and build system architectures and define overall architecture of complex Java Enterprise applications (Java, Spring, Angular, ReactJS, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, SQL, Microsoft Azure, GCP, AWS)
* Define functional and non‑functional requirements and make design decisions
* Ensure completeness and correctness of technical specifications and documentation
* Identify, anticipate, and mitigate technical risks
* Maintain high quality standards and continual improvement of processes
What we’re looking for
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field
* Experience as a software architect, lead software engineer, or similar leadership role, with a strong interest in a full architecture focus
* 5+ years of experience developing complex solutions in the Java Enterprise ecosystem, with proven expertise in modern architecture patterns (microservices, event‑driven serverless architectures, SOA); certifications such as CPSA‑F or TOGAF Foundation are an advantage
* Track record of leading client engagements, including workshops, meetings, presentations, and proposals
* Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) is an advantage
* Strong communication skills and a structured, analytical approach to work
* Proficiency in German and English
For certain public sector projects, a personal security clearance (Personensicherheitsprüfung, PSP) conducted by Swiss federal or cantonal authorities may be required. Willingness to undergo this clearance is essential.
