JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Safety Officer (Sicherheitsbeauftragter - SiBe), you will play a key role in ensuring occupational safety, health protection, and environmental protection (HSE) within the company. You will advise and support executive management, managers, and employees and actively contribute to the prevention of occupational accidents, health risks, and environmentally relevant incidents. The objective is to establish a sustainable safety culture and to ensure compliance with legal and internal requirements.
The role is based in Witterswil, Solothurn (Basel Area), Switzerland, with good public transport connection (Tram 10) and free car parking.
HowYou’llMake an Impact:
1. Advising and supporting executive management, managers, and employees in all matters relating to occupational safety, health protection, and environmental protection
2. Developing, implementing, and continuously improving company-wide HSE policies, safety concepts, and management systems in compliance with legal and normative requirements
3. Ensuring compliance with applicable legal regulations in the areas of occupational safety, health protection, and environmental law (in particular in accordance with Swiss legislation)
4. Conducting risk assessments as well as investigating occupational accidents and near misses, including deriving, implementing, and monitoring appropriate protective and preventive measures
5. Planning and conducting internal audits, safety inspections, training sessions, as well as emergency and evacuation drills for employees and managers
6. Developing HSE key performance indicators, preparing regular management reports including trend analyses, and maintaining required documentation for internal and external audits and certifications
7. Actively promoting a sustainable safety culture: raising awareness of HSE topics among all employees, embedding safety as a core company value, and fostering an open reporting and learning culture
8. Assuming the role of Safety Officer (SiBe) in accordance with EKAS requirements
9. Close collaboration with Innovation, production staff, HR, managers, and external specialist bodies (. SUVA, EKAS, safety specialists, occupational physicians)
Qualifications:
10. Completed scientific or technical basic education (BSc or MSc) or solid technical vocational training (. in an industrial, craft, or technical environment) required for assessing occupational and safety risks
11. Further training as a Safety Officer (. EKAS-recognised qualification, SiBe, SiFa) is an advantage
If this qualification is not yet available, willingness to complete the relevant training on a part-time basis during employment
12. Several years of professional experience in a comparable HSE role
13. In-depth knowledge of Swiss occupational safety, health protection, and environmental legislation
14. Basic knowledge of occupational medicine and its relevance to workplace safety
15. Very good German skills (spoken and written) and very good English skills; French is an advantage
16. Strong analytical skills and a structured, solution-oriented working style
17. High sense of responsibility, initiative, and assertiveness
18. Excellent communication skills across all hierarchical levels
19. Very good PC skills (MS Office; experience with HSE or management systems is an advantage)
20. Swiss or EU citizen or have a C Swiss resident permit
