Distance Learning Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with the program principal, oversee and give feedback on the successful operation of the district distance learning program. Facilitate student academic support, collaborate with building principals with regard to progress and disciplinary concerns, and utilize a tiered system of support to promote student success.

The Distance Learning Coordinator will not supervise, direct, or evaluate any STSD personnel.

Utilize the NSQ standards and framework to establish a baseline operating procedure, develop and implement a strategic plan focused on student success, recruitment, staff collaboration, and student support, and incorporate a continuous improvement cycle driven by data.

The work year shall be consistent with the approved school calendar, excluding July 4th. It shall consist of a 220‑day work year, including facilitating STSD Summer Credit Recovery.

Days that require the closing of school due to inclement weather shall be workdays, and these days may be remote.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Facilitate and oversee student academic support, time management, and goal‑setting, ensuring compliance with schedules for coursework, quizzes, testing, and grade submissions. This includes aligning course materials with district guidelines, grading assignments, and maintaining open communication regarding progress and discipline with students and parents/guardians.
2. Monitor and support student participation in online and in‑person coursework, ensuring adherence to proper decorum and school policies. Collaborate with special education teachers to meet individual student needs, report progress to guidance counselors, and participate in professional development to enhance instructional support. Maintain and update necessary technology skills and provide constructive feedback to the district administration to continuously improve the distance learning curriculum.
3. In collaboration with the program principal, utilize the NSQ standards and framework to establish a baseline operating procedure. From this baseline, develop and implement a strategic plan focused on student success, staff collaboration, and student support, incorporating a continuous improvement cycle driven by data.
4. Develop and implement a systematic approach to advertise and communicate district program offerings to students and families attending cyber charter schools, ensuring they are well‑informed. Use the feedback gathered to inform and guide strategic planning.
5. Collaborate with the Technology Department to keep hardware and software for distance learning current.
6. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.


QUALIFICATIONS

1. A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
2. Master's degree preferred.
3. Ability to use, effectively communicate, and teach through the use of the required software, including Zoom, Google Suite, CAOLA vendor sites.
4. Strong organizational skills, including time management.
5. Ability to work as a team member and remain flexible in a changing environment.
6. Receive the recommendation of the school principal.
7. Ability to collect, analyze, and report on student and program success data or measures.
8. Submission of pre‑employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
9. Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code).
10. Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994.
11. Submission of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006.
12. Submission of the Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form as required under Act 24 of 2011.
13. Alternatives to the above qualifications may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Board.
