About the Role
We are looking for a Claims Expert to join Swiss Re's P&C Reinsurance Claims team at our headquarters in Zurich, responsible for the Swiss Market. Reporting to the Head of Claims Northern, Central & Eastern Europe (NCEE), you will manage a significant and complex P&C claims portfolio, drive performance and delivering client-focused outcomes in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Own and steer the assigned claims portfolio, with full accountability for its performance and development, including mitigation of adverse prior-year development, actively identifying and reducing claims leakage
2. Develop and implement claims handling strategies for complex losses and scenarios
3. Ensure effective claims monitoring and provide expert guidance across the P&C Claims unit
4. Conduct claims reviews and audits, supporting portfolio steering and transaction objectives
5. Identify and monitor legal risks, and regulatory developments impacting Swiss Re's in-force and prospective business
6. Generate and track claims trends and insights that influence Underwriting decisions
7. Contribute to Smart Circles, ensuring strong alignment and feedback loops between Client Markets, Underwriting, Products, and Reserving
8. Understand client needs and deliver impactful, client-focused initiatives aligned with overall strategy, in close collaboration with Market Heads, Client Managers, and cross-functional teams
About the Team
This is an excellent opportunity to join our experienced Claims team within the P&C Reinsurance NCEE Market Unit. You will manage client and stakeholder relationships across all levels of seniority and collaborate closely with colleagues in Client Markets, Underwriting, Reserving, Contracts, and other key functions. Your professional background and personal strengths will enable you to contribute to thought leadership initiatives, ensure strong market and cross-functional representation, and support effective portfolio monitoring.

You are a pragmatic, solution-oriented professional with a high level of personal accountability and resilience. Curious and open-minded, you bring strong communication and negotiation skills, a trustworthy demeanour, and the enthusiasm to go the extra mile. You are equally comfortable working independently and collaborating across functions and seniority levels.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
9. University degree and/or vocational training in insurance, loss adjusting, or a related field
10. Minimum 5 years' experience from (re)insurance andin handling large liability and/or property claims and/or underwriting, ideally with exposure to the Swiss market
11. Excellent communication skills in German and English (written and verbal). Good level of French an asset
12. Strong leadership presence with experience representing an organisation at senior or executive client levels
13. Proven ability to develop and execute strategies, translating objectives into practical action plans
14. Excellent stakeholder management and networking skills, with the ability to address conflicts constructively
15. Confident in applying AI to enhance claims analysis, improve accuracy, and increase operational efficiency
These are additional nice to haves:
16. Experience in the primary insurance industry or within legal/insurance functions of large corporations
17. A degree in Law strong plus
18. Analytical and financial acumen
For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 118 000 and CHF 178 000 for a full-time role.

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
