Community Education Enrichment Instructor supporting the SPARK program
Position Function
Under general supervision of the Community Education Youth Services Coordinator and program collaborators, to supervise activities and youth regarding the SPARK 2.0 program to ensure a safe and secure environment for the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
* Enforces Board of Education policies with regard to smoking, vandalism, alcohol, drugs, and other school rules and regulations.
* Reports concerns and incidents which may require additional action to the Youth Services Coordinator and/or others as required.
* Assists visitors to the program in receiving proper direction.
* Assist enrichment program instructors, teachers, and group leaders with room preparation and deliver materials to them from the Community Education office.
* Ensure that any audio-visual equipment that might be required with a specific enrichment class is available and ready to use in the assigned room.
* Provide positive public relations to all instructors and students in the building. Use tact and good judgment when problem-solving.
* Review calendar to assess all activity operating in the building during work shift to ensure smooth operations of space.
* Monitor the SPARK Program and its participants for smooth operations and to ensure all attendees have a waiver on file.
* Checks enrollment waivers and track enrollment when in session.
* Support food distribution.
* Improvise activities to keep youth engaged.
* Supervise bus transportation of students if applicable.
* Build and maintain a positive repertoire with SPARK participants.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
* Perform related duties as required by supervisors or other SPARK collaborators.
Safety Requirements
Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing building security and safety of youth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of best practices in supervising youth.
* Ability to follow oral or written work orders from coordinator and others.
* Ability to describe orally or in writing problems as needed.
* Ability to problem solve and resolve issues as they occur onsite.
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.
Travel Requirements
Ability to transport self to location required.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
* Ability to lift and/or adjust supplies and furniture as needed for instructors.
Qualifications Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Must be available all 2026 SPARK program dates Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from July 7-August 13 from 11:00 am - 2:30 pm. An additional 1-2 hour orientation will be scheduled prior to the start date.
