Position: Project – DevOps Engineer
Location: Bern, Switzerland
Capacity utilization: 80%–100%
Start: March 1, 2026
End: December 31, 2026, with option to extend
Location: Bern, on site 3 days per week at 80%–100%, remote 2 days per week at 100%
Customer segment: Government
Candidate's place of residence: The candidate has been living in Switzerland for 10 years.
Personnel security check (PSP): The customer requires an extended PSP dating back a maximum of 3–5 years. If no PSP is available, the candidate must be willing to undergo such a process. The last 10 years will be checked and a clean record or certificate of good conduct must be provided.
Responsibilities
* Setup and operation of development, test, and production environments in cloud environments using robust staging concepts.
* Design, implementation, and optimization of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
* Management of container technologies (Docker) and their orchestration with Kubernetes, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
* Development and maintenance of CI/CD processes (e.g., GitLab), ensuring secure, automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
* Connection, integration, and management of APIs between backend and frontend applications.
* Automation of infrastructure processes with a strong focus on reliability, observability, and compliance.
* Implementation of DevSecOps practices by integrating security scanning and monitoring tools into the deployment pipeline.
* Close collaboration with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure design with business and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
* Higher education (ETH/university/university of applied sciences) in computer science/economics or comparable education
* Advanced knowledge of Cisco network components (routers, switches, firewalls)
* Experience with Cisco ACI network architectures for automating data center environments
* Very good knowledge of VMware vSphere for virtualization and management of virtual infrastructures
* Experience with ESXi CLI and vCenter API, including automation
* Several years of experience in end-to-end automation of data center infrastructures (hardware, middleware, application layers)
* In-depth knowledge of setting up and operating CI/CD pipelines
* In-depth knowledge of Ansible Core (creation and management of collections, roles, and playbooks)
* Experience in designing scalable system architectures with high availability
* Knowledge of microservices architectures and containerization
* In-depth DevOps knowledge (principles and best practices)
* Experience in performance analysis and optimization of system and network environments
* Very good German skills, English skills are an advantage
