The Strategy Lead reports to the Head of Strategy in the Global Pharma Strategy organization. This position sits at the crux of the strategic engine of the Pharma Division and is essential in providing strategic thought partnership to Pharma Division leaders, as well as catalyzing and supporting the development of strategies at both the Therapeutic Area and above Therapeutic area levels.
The Opportunity
1. Strategic Orchestration: Catalyze and orchestrate the development and review of strategies (in close collaboration with enterprise experts), including but not limited to our One Pharma Strategy, Therapeutic Area Strategies, and Disease Area Strategies.
2. Portfolio Health & Resourcing: Provide a perspective on portfolio health and priorities, translating these into clear trade-offs and the strategic prioritization of GPS resourcing.
3. Market Intelligence Integration: Integrate industry context and trends (in collaboration with Ecosystem Insights and Competitive Intelligence) to identify potential implications to Roche.
4. Proactive Leadership Support: Help identify topics proactively that will require strategic decisions to be taken by senior Pharma Division leadership.
5. Financial Planning Collaboration: Provide the vital strategic context to finance counterparts during the development of the annual business planning exercise.
6. Drive Strategic Initiatives: Lead and drive strategic initiatives that emerge as key priorities for the Pharma Division.
7. Enterprise Collaboration: Leverage a wide range of development and collaboration opportunities across the Roche Pharma enterprise, including with Therapeutic Area experts (GPS, pRED, gRED, PD, and PI), portfolio groups, Finance, the Portfolio Advisory Team, the Group Strategy organization, the Pharma CEO Office, Ecosystem Insights, and Competitive Intelligence.
Who You Are
8. Educational Foundation: Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (required); an MBA or PhD is highly desirable.
9. Industry & Strategy Expertise: Bring a minimum of 5 years of working experience with a clear understanding of business strategy and the Pharma industry, including required experience in consumer health; familiarity with Roche’s portfolio and strategy, as well as strategy consulting experience, is a plus.
10. Senior Management Engagement: Proven experience interacting with and developing highly effective presentation materials for Senior Management is a plus.
11. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Possess strong interpersonal skills with proven abilities to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional, often virtual and matrix teams while developing vital relationships across the company.
12. Influencing & Communication: Demonstrate strong influencing skills to accomplish goals through indirect leadership, paired with excellent communication skills to transfer complex analysis, concepts, and ideas into convincing, clear communication.

The role requires an on-site presence at our South San Francisco, CA Genentech Campus. Relocation assistance within the US is available for this position.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $180,800 - $335,800 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
