Develop a comprehensive understanding of multi-modality image-guided workflow for upright radiotherapy, treating patients in a safe and effective manner.
This PhD position involves developing an advanced image analysis framework (including image segmentation, deformable registration, synthesis, and reconstruction) for multi-modality, multi-posture images used in upright radiotherapy;
Design and validate an efficient multi-modal image guidance workflow for upright radiotherapy/proton therapy, utilizing cutting-edge technology to improve treatment outcomes.
Your tasks
* Implement algorithms for registering and segmenting images from different modalities to provide accurate information about patient anatomy;
* Create anthropomorphic numerical phantoms to simulate upright anatomy and its variations, ensuring realistic simulations for clinical use;
* Evaluate and optimize the performance of your developed methods using both simulated and real-world data.
To achieve these objectives, you will work closely with our team of experts in medical imaging and radiation therapy, collaborating on research projects and advancing state-of-the-art technologies.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual with expertise in medical image analysis and deep learning frameworks, capable of working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The ideal candidate has experience with medical image analysis, particularly in areas such as registration, segmentation, 4D motion modeling, and their applications in radiation therapy. Strong communication skills, ability to write clear and concise reports, and experience in working collaboratively within a team are also essential.
You will benefit from:
A fully funded 3-year position within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network - UPLIFT;
An opportunity to work with experienced researchers and clinicians in the field of radiation therapy and medical imaging;
State-of-the-art facilities and resources for conducting research and developing new technologies;
Systematic on-the-job training, personal development opportunities, and a strong vocational training culture.
