EHS Design and Compliance Engineer (m/f/d)

The EHS Design and Compliance Engineer ensures the implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements throughout all stages of investment projects, aligning with Lonza's policies, procedures, and legal regulations. This role involves evaluating safety impacts during the project lifecycle—from feasibility studies to detailed design—particularly within the GE Growth project and Visp CAPEX initiatives.
As part of the EHS team, the engineer promotes a strong EHS culture within CAPEX and investment projects. The role reports operationally to the EHS Design Manager.
We seek expertise in Fire Safety or Environment:
Fire Safety responsibilities include:
* Ensuring compliance with fire protection requirements according to VKF Guideline 12 Fire Prevention and Organizational Fire Protection
* Coordinating between internal and external fire protection departments (authorities, emergency services, specialists)
* Implementing internal fire protection measures during construction
* Advising project teams, clients, and planners during planning, execution, and commissioning
* Ensuring conformity declarations for projects
* Conducting BS audits and defining measures for operators
Environmental responsibilities include:
* Assessing environmental impacts of new plants (air, wastewater, waste, noise, resources) with project engineers
* Defining measures to minimize environmental impacts
* Preparing environmental impact reports for authorities
* Participating in environmental risk analyses
Key qualifications and skills:
* Master's in Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Process Engineering, Safety Engineering, or equivalent
* Experience working with EHS project teams, acting as coordinator and SPOC
* Understanding of design safety and legal safety requirements in pharmaceuticals or similar fields
* Strong communication skills in German and English, verbal and written
* Excellent presentation skills for training and knowledge sharing
* Ability to manage ambiguity with coaching skills
