POSITION: Onamia Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and highly qualified PreK-12 Principal to begin July 1, 2026.
POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking an exceptional educational leader committed to fostering a collaborative, student-centered culture. This individual will work closely with staff and partner with administration to build and sustain a positive, inclusive and highly effective environment where students can thrive. This position is a full-time, 225-day administrative position offering a competitive salary range with an outstanding benefits package.
The Onamia School District is located along the south shore of beautiful Lake Mille Lacs and is just one and a half hours north of Minneapolis on Highway 169.
* Provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of education programming, curriculum development and instructional practices.
* Supervise and support licensed and non-licensed staff, including evaluations and professional growth.
* Oversee curriculum implementation, assessment practices and data-driven decision‑making.
* Maintain and strengthen safety protocols while cultivating a positive, inclusive and supportive school climate.
* Collaborate closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Principal to advance and operationalize the District's mission, vision and strategic priorities.
* Build and sustain strong relationships with students, families, community organizations, tribal and local agencies, staff and the broader community to foster engagement, trust and shared responsibility for student success.
* Manage building operations, including scheduling, budgeting and compliance with state and federal regulations.
* Lead special education processes and student support services.
* Ensure safe school practices, crisis response readiness and adherence to district policies.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
* Demonstrated experience in instructional leadership, curriculum and staff supervision
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
* Background in rural education, small-school leadership or community-centered schools
