We are looking for an R&D Product Development Engineer to shape the future of connectivity in Saint-Prex. In this dynamic role, you will define and design cutting‑edge connectivity solutions while continually enhancing and optimizing existing products to meet evolving technical demands and market expectations.
You will lead the entire design engineering journey – from initial concept to full‑scale production – guided by our structured Product Development Process (PDP). Your mission is to deliver robust, qualified design solutions that meet performance, cost, and quality targets within defined timelines.
As a key contributor, you will drive product verification through advanced simulations and prototype testing, followed by final validation supported by rigorous failure analysis. Collaboration is central to this role: you will work closely with cross‑functional teams including Business Development, Manufacturing, and Quality, while also engaging directly with customers and suppliers to ensure alignment and excellence.
This is more than a technical role – it’s an opportunity to innovate, lead, and make a lasting impact on the next generation of Fischer connectivity solutions.
What You Will Do In Your Role
 * Design and develop innovative products aligned with Fischer’s connectivity solutions, including connectors and complex devices.
 * Lead product development by translating product requirements into technical specifications, driving concept creation and idea generation, and designing components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools in collaboration with design teams.
 * Conduct DFMEA risk assessments, defining technical requirements for product qualification. This includes identifying and ranking risks, developing mitigation plans, and ensuring full implementation and closure of actions.
 * Facilitate design reviews throughout the development lifecycle, including design verification, validation, qualification planning, and key milestone tracking up to production ramp‑up.
 * Advance technical knowledge in state‑of‑the‑art connectivity technologies and apply continuous improvement methodologies.
 * Ensure compliance with the Product Development Process (PDP), maintaining robust design control practices and managing engineering changes across the entire Product Life Cycle (PLC).
 * Collaborate effectively within cross‑functional, multi‑location project teams (Portugal, UK, USA, France, APAC).
 * Lead development projects and sub‑projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.
 * Ensure product quality by applying relevant international standards, engineering tools, and internal Fischer guidelines.
The Experience And Skills You Will Bring
 * Bachelor or Master’s degree in mechanical, materials or micro‑engineering.
 * Background or proven experience in new product development.
 * Background or proven experience in mass production products.
 * Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CAD.
 * Experience with Ansys simulation a plus.
 * Experience in R&D business processes and tools (PDP, PLM, SAP).
 * Background in V&V process (Verification and Validation).
What Will Put You Ahead
 * Strong passion for new product development and innovation.
 * Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within teams, focusing on optimal outcomes through shared effort.
 * Strong self‑management and time‑management skills, along with advanced problem‑solving, analytical thinking, and sound decision‑making capabilities.
 * Maintaining a high level of accountability throughout the development lifecycle – from initial concept and manufacturing phases to final product release and handover to production.
 * Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English and French).
