Our BioPharma Product Testing team supports the bio‑pharmaceutical industry with comprehensive CMC testing services, including microbiology and method development, across all stages of drug development and manufacturing.
We are seeking a highly motivated Sampler / Microbiology Analyst to join our Quality Control Microbiology team in Schönenwerd. This hybrid position combines utility and environmental sampling with microbiological laboratory testing, ensuring GMP compliance and meeting regulatory and internal quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Sampling Responsibilities
o Conduct GMP‑compliant sampling of utilities (purified water, WFI, compressed air, gases, clean steam) and environmental monitoring (viable & non‑viable air, surfaces, personnel).
o Sample in‑process materials and intermediates (excluding raw materials).
* Execute aseptic sampling procedures and uphold contamination‑control standards.
* Accurately record all sampling activities using the company’s LIMS systems and digital batch records.
* Coordinate sampling schedules, including time‑critical activities.
* Perform routine microbiological analyses such as:
o Bioburden / TAMC & TYMC
o Utility testing: bioburden, endotoxin, TOC, conductivity
o Environmental monitoring plate reading & trend evaluation
o Endotoxin testing (e.g. LAL)
o Basic microbial identification (gram stain, colony morphology)
* Prepare media, reagents, and test materials according to SOPs.
* Maintain laboratory hygiene, conduct equipment checks, and ensure accurate documentation.
* Support deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and process improvements.
Work Schedule
* Includes occasional or scheduled weekend work as part of a rotation to support time‑critical sampling and microbiological testing.
* Requires flexibility and reliability for weekend assignments.
Qualifications
* Degree: Bachelor or Master in Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or equivalent).
* Experience in microbiology, environmental monitoring, utility sampling, or GMP laboratory work is an advantage.
* Solid understanding of microbiology, aseptic techniques, and GMP principles.
Enhanced IT Affinity
* Very good understanding of IT and Office applications.
* High proficiency with digital laboratory systems such as LIMS.
* Confident use of electronic data capture, structured workflows, and digital documentation.
* Knowledge of data integrity (ALCOA+) and audit trails.
* Ability to navigate multiple platforms and contribute to digitalization initiatives.
Additional Skills
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity mindset.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility to work in cleanrooms, laboratories, and operational areas.
* High customer and service orientation.
* Very good German and good English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
* Driver’s Licence B.
