Senior Specialist Capacity & Congestion Management (80-100%) in Aarau
Participate in the power supply in Switzerland
In this exciting and challenging role, you will be part of an international team whose main task is to develop congestion management. This involves ensuring stable grid operations – whilst at the same time optimising our grid infrastructure for the national and international power market. Today – and in the future!
You will play a central role in guaranteeing the future supply of electricity in Switzerland. You will be involved in an international project to determine Switzerland’s future electricity import and export possibilities. You will represent the project for Swissgrid from day one: from the international design and negotiation phase right through to implementation. You will be responsible for the following tasks:
Managing and contributing to internal development and implementation projects, and taking responsibility for the design of the relevant concepts
Representing Swissgrid’s interests in international working groups and committees
Ensuring internal strategic coordination and the transfer of information to senior management and national authorities
Liaising – as part of a development department – between development, the operational teams and IT
Coordinating the drafting of cooperation agreements, service level agreements and contractual regulations

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated and structured individual with an outstanding track record of success and solid experience. Ideally, we require someone with an excellent analytical mindset, a constant drive to work independently on new topics, and the ability to manoeuvre successfully in a complex political and technical international environment. You are a team player and show great commitment and dedication. You must also have the following:
Master’s degree or equivalent educational background in a scientific, economic or engineering field
Several years of professional experience in the area of electrical energy systems, the energy industry or in the transmission system operator environment
Experience in the management and coordination of interdisciplinary projects
A strong understanding of Switzerland’s role in the European energy system and the international European power market
Knowledge of load flow-based grid studies would be an advantage
Excellent MS Office user skills, especially regarding the presentation and transfer of information
Excellent written and spoken English skills are a must

We are at the forefront of strategic developments for the Swiss electricity market and congestion management. We also devise and implement operational procedures and market rules. Our constant aim is to maximise the efficiency and security of our grid. We remain in close contact and engage in dialogue with Swissgrid Grid Operations, Swissgrid IT and the supervisory authorities. The majority of our activities take place in an international environment.
