Process Engineer: Utility Systems Optimization and Maintenance

This role is responsible for the hands-on operation, maintenance, and optimization of clean utility systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Clean utility systems include purified water, clean steam, process gases, and water for injection (WFI).
The engineer will oversee the planning, procurement, installation, and qualification of clean utilities packages as a Package Owner in investment projects.
The role requires participation in troubleshooting, emergency response, and on-call duties to ensure systems operate without interruption.
The engineer will lead improvement projects and support the integration of new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and maintain clean utility systems, ensuring the continuous supply of purified water, clean steam, WFI, and process gases to the facility.
* Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions on clean utilities equipment.
* Design and optimize clean utility systems to meet regulatory and operational requirements for purity, reliability, and efficiency.
* Act as the Package Owner for clean utility systems in large-scale investment projects and oversee the planning, procurement, installation, and qualification of clean utilities packages.
* Manage clean utility system installations, from design to commissioning, qualification, and monitoring, ensuring timely project delivery.
* Ensure all clean utility systems comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory standards.
* Provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting and resolving utility system issues, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal disruption to production.
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) for any system deviations.
Requirements:
* Academic education in the field of mechanical engineering, process engineering, biology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology, chemistry, or comparable.
* Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry under GMP production conditions.
* Knowledge and previous experience of Utility design and operation are a plus.
* Written and spoken English.
* Initiative, ability to work under pressure, decision-making ability, judgment, independence, conscientious way of working.
* Willingness to be available for on-call duties to respond to emergencies or system failures outside of normal working hours.
