Security and Cryptography Engineer
Join the mission to make communications trustworthy in the age of AI
About Us:
is a Zurich-based deep-tech startup protecting real-time voice communication and audio content against AI-generated impersonation (deepfakes). Alongside our AI deepfake detection engine, we are developing the world's first cryptographic audio watermarking – a future-proof "SSL for audio." This infrastructure will embed authenticity at the point of capture (microphones, apps, SDKs) and integrate with PKI and digital identity providers to secure communications at scale.
We're a team of passionate innovators from top-tier tech, consulting, and startup backgrounds. We believe in speed, sharp thinking, and making things real. We ship fast, learn faster, and stay united by a shared vision: safeguarding the future of trusted communication.
Why we need you:
We are seeking a security engineer to design and implement our audio watermarking infrastructure. You will work closely with our AI, product, software and infrastructure teams to build the cryptographic backbone of our platform, ensuring interoperability with existing identity ecosystems, standards, and compliance frameworks.
What you will do:
* Architect and implement PKI based system for embedding and verifying audio watermarks with cryptographic guarantees.
* Develop robust audio watermark embedding algorithms that maintain perceptual transparency while ensuring cryptographic binding to identity credentials
* Design an identity layer that integrates with identity providers (eIDAS, FIDO2, Swisscom Trust Services, etc.) and enterprise IAM solutions.
* Ensure compatibility with enterprise security ecosystems
* Work on standards alignment and security protocols (TLS, X.509, OCSP, certificate chains, secure enclaves).
* Collaborate with other engineers and research scientists to bind audio watermarking to authenticated identities and devices.
* Design and execute adversarial scenarios (e.g., replay, spoofing, certificate misuse, tampering) and collaborate with external security partners for penetration testing.
* Contribute to security and compliance audits and guide best practices for secure key management, signing, and verification infrastructure.
About you:
* Strong background in applied cryptography (PKI, digital signatures, hash functions, key exchange).
* Proven experience building or integrating PKI / certificate-based systems.
* Familiarity with digital identity standards: OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, X.509, FIDO2, verifiable credentials.
* Hands-on experience with systems programming in Rust, C, C++, or Python or similar
* Experience working with cloud providers (AWS or Azure)
* Experience with secure hardware / trusted execution environments (TPMs, HSMs, enclaves) is a plus.
* Understanding of security compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, ETSI, NIST).
* Bonus: Experience in audio, media security, or watermarking systems.
Benefits
:
* Opportunity to pioneer a new security standard ("SSL for audio") with real-world impact in finance, telco, and government.
* Work in a fast-moving deep-tech startup with global ambition.
* Work with a team of smart, passionate and driven people.
* Work from wherever you're most productive and collaborative. (At least two days a week in the office in Zurich)
* We're offering a meaningful ownership stake in the company. CHF ~80k salary + ~CHF 20k in stock options (depending on role and experience)
If you're ready to use your skills for good and want to be part of a team from the start that's making a real difference, we want to hear from you
