Role Description
We are seeking an Accountant to join our team in Geneva, Switzerland. This position offers the opportunity to work within an international, fast-paced biotech environment. The Accountant will support the Financial Controller with the daily finance operations and potentially assume greater responsibilities as the company grows.
Primary Job Responsibilities
• Assist daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, intercompany transactions, bank reconciliations, process supplier payments, and general ledger entries
• Process and verify expenses in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Support month-end and year-end closings, including account reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and financial reporting
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and notes
• Assist with VAT, corporate tax obligations and audit activities
• Assist budget, forecast and management report preparations
• Support outsourced payroll processing, including reviewing monthly documentation and liaising with external providers
• Support administrative duties
• Participate in internal projects, such as potential ERP improvements and procurement initiatives
• Contribute to the continuous enhancement of internal processes and financial controls
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., HR, R&D)
• Support ad hoc tasks and projects as required
Experience & Qualifications
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years' professional accounting experience, ideally within an international setting, audit, or corporate environment
• Proficiency in purchase order management and three-way matching (or similar controls)
• Familiarity with Swiss CO and local tax regulations, including VAT
• Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (such as Xero) is advantageous
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical ability
• Ability to work confidently with numbers, spreadsheets, and financial systems
• Proactive attitude with a demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Effective communication skills in both English and French
• Valid work permit
