Role Purpose
The Manager, Events & Market Engagement, plays a critical role in advancing PMI’s Content & Events strategic priorities, with end‑to‑end accountability for designing and executing Technovation events, supporting markets in their local deployment and activation, and owning its evolution and scale‑up.
In this capacity, the role leads the transformation of Technovation from a series of individual events into an integrated global platform, bringing together convening, sustained engagement, digital infrastructure, collaboration mechanisms, and thought leadership.
Operating within a ‘built central, felt everywhere’ model, the role exercises clear strategic ownership alongside hands‑on leadership, ensuring disciplined global execution while enabling markets and regions to activate the platform with consistency, relevance, and impact.
At the same time, the manager leads comprehensive market activation efforts, driving and supporting media attendance at relevant third‑party events to ensure subsequent impactful media coverage.
Your Day To Day
* Own the end‑to‑end design, delivery, and evolution of Technovation, ensuring consistent quality, relevance, and strategic alignment across all events.
* Lead the transformation of Technovation, establishing it as a structured, global stakeholder engagement platform rather than a series of stand‑alone events.
* Define and drive the core architecture of the next generation of Technovation, including global convening moments, engagement cycles, digital touchpoints, collaboration formats, and thought‑leadership outputs.
* Ensure a strong connection between pre‑event positioning, live engagement, and post‑event momentum, embedding continuity and long‑term value creation.
* Safeguard the platform’s role as a strategic Corporate Affairs asset, strengthening PMI’s credibility, relevance, and convening power at the intersection of innovation, industry transformation, and public policy.
* Enable and support direct market activation of Technovation, providing clear frameworks, expectations, and guidance.
* Translate global platform strategy into practical activation models that markets can realistically execute across varying levels of maturity.
* Act as the primary point of reference for markets engaging with Technovation, ensuring clarity, consistency, and disciplined adaptation.
* Balance global coherence with local relevance, maintaining platform integrity while allowing flexibility where it adds value.
* Co‑architect and contribute to a comprehensive media activation strategy spanning relevant external platforms, including key THR events and other major engagement opportunities.
* Design and support media engagement strategies around key THR events (e.g. GFN), including briefings, interviews, and curated content packages to increase participation.
* Track journalist participation and early coverage results against baseline.
* Coordinate with CA / Policy, Scientific Engagement and other key internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives, sequencing, and execution.
* Drive disciplined management of interdependencies, timelines, and decision points across multiple concurrent initiatives.
* Engage senior PMI leaders and external stakeholders with structure, ensuring clarity of roles, expectations, and outcomes.
* Proactively surface risks and trade‑offs, offering clear recommendations rather than escalation without direction.
* Set and maintain high execution standards across all activities, ensuring reliability even during peak delivery periods.
* Establish clear planning and delivery rhythms that support scale without loss of quality.
* Institutionalize learnings by capturing insights, best practices, and case examples to continuously strengthen platform performance year‑on‑year.
Who Are We Looking For
* Significant experience in global events, stakeholder engagement, or corporate affairs within a complex, matrixed organisation.
* Proven track record of owning end‑to‑end delivery of large‑scale events or strategic engagement platforms.
* Experience translating global strategy into scalable, market‑ready activation frameworks.
* Strong understanding of media engagement and working with journalists at major external events.
* Ability to design and deliver integrated engagement approaches across live, digital, and ongoing touchpoints.
