Join to apply for the Examiner - Advanced Tax Singapore role at ACCA Careers .

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the world’s most forward-thinking professional accountancy body.

Our Core Values Are As Follows

Inclusion: We create opportunity for all. We remove artificial barriers, create connection and embrace diversity.

Integrity: We are ethical, honest and accountable and encourage the same from others. We act in the public interest and focus on long-term value.

Innovation: We think ahead. We explore new ideas, creating solutions that ensure our community and the wider profession is ready for today and tomorrow.

Our examining teams embed the above core values in the areas for which they are responsible, including the process of developing and reviewing syllabus materials, the production and review of exams for the ACCA Qualification and ensuring our marking process remains fair and robust.

The Examiner is responsible for collaborating on the development of the syllabus, writing the exam, producing suggested answers and marking guides and for organising the marking of candidates’ responses. They are supported in this role by the Assessor, another technical expert who helps the Examiner by technically checking and quality assuring the exam materials.

Main Responsibilities

To ensure exam material is accessible and understandable for the average and adequately prepared candidate, wherever in the world they may be from and whatever their racial, ethnic or cultural background.

To ensure that exam material is culturally unbiased in the way it is constructed and expressed and does not discriminate between candidates of different backgrounds, other than on academic ability or the educational preparedness of candidates for the relevant exam.

To prepare appropriate exams, provide complete suggested solutions and an indicative marking guide, within the production schedule deadlines, ensuring that the exam is set at the appropriate level for the qualification being assessed.

To ensure that exam material produced is original, not previously published, does not breach any copyright, and is culturally sensitive and not likely to cause any offence. Exams should be written using standard terminology and set within the capabilities of a well‑prepared candidate within the allotted time and set in line with ACCA's approved style and format.

To ensure that exams are fair and balanced and contain the appropriate mix of questions which are of a consistent standard for the designated level of the qualification being assessed.

To ensure that exam marks awarded to each question should accurately reflect the time required for an average candidate to provide a satisfactory pass answer and set at the appropriate credit level of the qualification being assessed.

To ensure that all exams and solutions are free from error.

Co‑operate with the assessor, co‑ordinator and relevant ACCA staff in the amendment of exams.

Carefully read and correct all proofs of exam materials, answers and marking guides.

Be contactable on the day of the exam to answer any queries.

Administer and monitor the marking process and complete and submit relevant reports.

Prepare presentations for and attend conferences organised by ACCA as required.

Prepare informative support material as required for student accountant, ACCA's online student newsletter and the ACCA website when required.
