Qualifications
* Certification: Valid Illinois Professional Educator's or Substitute License registered in Lake County
* Education:
o Required – Bachelor's Degree
* Experience:
o Preferred – Classroom teaching experience
Essential Performance Responsibilities
* Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival
* Reviews plans and schedules with principal, department head, or team leader
* Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the assigned classroom
* Teaches the lesson outlined in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide as prepared by the absent teacher
* Consults with school principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any non‑specified procedures
* Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior during class, lunch, and recess periods
* Reports in writing on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day
* Follows all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers and good teaching practice
* Performs other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the School Principal

* Planning and Preparation – Demonstrate knowledge of content, pedagogy, students, and resources; design coherent instruction, select appropriate activities, assess learning.
* Classroom Environment – Create an environment of respect and inquiry, establish a culture for learning, manage procedures, handle student behavior, organize physical space.
* Instruction – Communicate clearly and accurately, use questioning and discussion techniques, engage students, provide feedback, demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.
* Professional Responsibility – Reflect on teaching, maintain accurate records, communicate professionally, contribute to the school and district, grow and develop professionally.
Technical Proficiency
Competent in digital environments; iPads, Chromebooks, databases, spreadsheets, publishing software, Microsoft Office, Google applications, etc.
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, businesses, and the community. Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills. Strategic thinker, empathetic, humanistic, open‑minded. Effective in both English and Spanish. Sound judgment in dealing with people.

Terms of Employment
Work Week: Monday through Friday (as needed)
Work Year: August to June
Work Hours: Varied from 7:15 a.m. – 3:55 p.m. depending upon building assignment.
Salary Range: $130 per day minimum
