About the customer:
We are seeking for an seasoned Senior Data Engineer to join an exciting project at one of global leading re/insurance company in Zurich on a 12-month contract.
- Start: April/May 2026
- Duration: 12 monthly, very likely to extend (intial project goes until 2028)
- Location: Zurich
- Hybrid: 3 days/week in the Office
Your team:
Team of 12 people, including the Product Owner, 4 Business analysts and 7 engineers, most of them are in Zurich, others in Italy.
Top 3 must-have skills
1. PySpark (Python alone is not enough - Spark is essential)
2. Databricks & Delta Lake
3. Azure fundamentals
Requirements:
- Min. 5 years of experience as Data Engineer developing complex software systems
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or related field)
- Strong software engineering mindset (design patterns, best practices, clean code)
- Solid background in data engineering and analytical frameworks
- Strong core Python software engineering experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with modern data platforms
- Experience of working with delta lakes and optimizing Spark workloads running on it.
- Have a good understanding and significant experience with projects using relational data models and SQL.
