As our new Senior R&D Structural Engineer, you will join our Global Multi-Physic Simulation (GLOMUS) network team in the Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key people with specific expertise in the fields of electrical, structural, acoustic, thermo-mechanic, and fluid-dynamics analyses, simulation, and testing.

Your responsibilities
1. Perform Finite Element simulation of structures subject to all types of static and dynamic loads (fatigue, shock, short-circuit, seismic, lifting, etc.)
2. Develop new automations for the structural, thermomechanical, and acoustic assessment of products
3. Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their expected performances
4. Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products
5. Lead product and technology development in the field of Dry, Traction, and Oil Distribution Transformers, delivering results on time, within budget, and to scope and quality standards
6. Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering by writing design rules, preparing training, and collaborating with the design tools team
7. Provide technical support to other departments (engineering, product management, marketing, sales, etc.) as needed
Your background
1. PhD or MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
2. Several years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering
3. Advanced knowledge of structures subjected to seismic, fatigue, shock, and thermal loads
4. Experience with finite element analysis and use of ANSYS Workbench suite
5. Knowledge of programming languages: MATLAB, Visual Basic, Python
6. Solid foundation in vibrational fatigue and structural dynamics
7. Project management skills with an action- and results-oriented mindset, coupled with innovative, out-of-the-box thinking
8. Excellent communication skills in English, strong team spirit, and willingness to travel
