Position Overview
Senior Space Thermo‑mechanical Engineer sought for the Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) role, responsible for design, analysis, test and delivery of opto‑mechanical and opto‑electronic systems for space applications.
Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical and thermal design of satellite opto‑mechanical and opto‑electronic equipment from concept to detailed design and production files.
* Perform structural analysis and support mechanical testing (e.g., vibration testing) of space equipment.
* Evaluate test results and correlate with associated models.
* Manage and monitor engineering projects, ensuring milestones are met and deliverables are on time and within budget.
* Coordinate and interface with cross‑functional teams (system architecture, thermal, electronic, optical engineering) for integrated design solutions.
* Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation including design reports, analysis results and project plans.
* Perform risk assessments and mitigation planning.
* Participate in project reviews, provide technical expertise and optimize solutions.
* Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous learning.
* Stay current with mechanical engineering and space technologies, applying best practices and innovations.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and guidelines.
* Support the preparation of technical proposals for new products and developments.
Qualifications
* Master’s or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 7–10 years of mechanical engineering experience focused on space applications.
* Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g., NASTRAN, Simcenter) and CAD (e.g., NX).
* Strong coordination skills, experience leading engineering projects from concept to manufacturing files and delivering on time and within budget.
* Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
* Experience with spacecraft technical systems (structural/thermal/optical/electronic components and mechanisms).
* Familiarity with space industry standards (NASA, ESA, or commercial standards).
* Very good command of English; knowledge of Swiss National Languages is an asset.
* Additional assets: knowledge of ESATAN‑TMS and MS Project.
