Ph3Organizational Context /h3 pThe Centre of Competence on Humanitarian Negotiation (CCHN) is a joint initiative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) Switzerland, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the World Food Programme (WFP). CCHN facilitates the capture, analysis and sharing of experiences and practices around humanitarian negotiation, providing a space for dialogue across humanitarian organisations. The CCHN community of practice is a global community of humanitarian negotiators working at the frontlines of humanitarian action. CCHN is administratively hosted by the IFRC and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. /p h3Job Purpose /h3 pThe Senior Officer, Communications leads CCHN’s external communication efforts, ensuring strategic alignment across content production, digital engagement, media relations and public positioning. The role bridges institutional priorities and global outreach, supporting the organisation’s visibility, brand coherence and partner engagement. The Senior Officer, Communications supervises a Communication Specialist. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liDevelop communication, advocacy and marketing strategies and related work plans, including objectives, target audiences, messaging, tools, products, monitoring performance and measuring impact. /li liEnsure that CCHN’s branding and public messaging about its mandate and programmes is consistent across the organization and reflects priorities. /li liGenerate quality multimedia content including writing, video, photo, audio storytelling and translate content and hard data into compelling narratives for advocacy purposes. /li liProduce multimedia materials for social media use—including short videos, graphics and web stories for digital use. /li liDefine a social media plan that leverages platforms, networks and partners to enhance coverage and support of CCHN’s activities. /li liRoll out brand‑marketing campaigns to increase awareness and familiarity with CCHN’s work and build its profile among target audiences, including adapting and localising initiatives. /li liLead production of material on negotiation issues—including speeches, annual reports, blogs, presentations and talking points. /li liCoordinate and manage communications activities, products and tactics, supervising the Communications Specialist. /li liLiaise with internal and external stakeholders—operations, logistics, UN System, IGOs, NGOs, community of practice members and key partners—to schedule and plan communication content around milestone moments, conferences, workshops, announcements, publications and other events. /li liPropose and lead projects to improve the quality and quantity of communication materials/tools/services across activities. /li liCoordinate CCHN’s participation in international conferences, including planning sessions, speaking engagements and booth logistics. /li /ul h3Duties Applicable to All Staff /h3 ul liWork actively towards the achievement of CCHN’s goals. /li liAbide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles. /li liPerform any other work‑related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager. /li /ul h3Required Education /h3 pUniversity degree in international relations, political science, communication or equivalent. /p h3Required Experience /h3 ul liMinimum 5 to 7 years of work experience in government, international organizations or international NGOs. /li liSolid experience in managing strategic communication, partnerships, content production and digital community engagement. /li /ul h3Required Knowledge, Skills and Languages /h3 ul liGood understanding of the humanitarian system and trends affecting humanitarian affairs. /li liAbility to work autonomously in a professional team under tight deadlines. /li liStrong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and presentation. /li liAvailability for occasional travel. /li liExcellent writing and editing skills in both English and French; Spanish and/or Arabic are an asset. /li /ul h3Preferred /h3 ul liGood understanding of the concept and management of communities of practice is an asset. /li liGood command of another IFRC official language (Spanish or Arabic). /li /ul h3Languages /h3 ul liFluent spoken and written English and French. /li liGood command of another IFRC official language (Spanish or Arabic). /li /ul h3Competencies and Values /h3 pValues: Respect for diversity; Integrity; Professionalism; Accountability. /p pCore competencies: Communication; Collaboration and teamwork; Judgement and decision making; National society and customer relations; Creativity and innovation; Building trust. /p h3Application Instruction /h3 pPlease submit your application in English only. /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
