Could you be our next Senior Director, TA Portfolio Delivery Lead? The job is located in the King of Prussia, PA, Waltham, MA or Zurich-Glattburg, Switzerland office. This is a hybrid position. You will report to the Executive Director.
Based on Therapeutic area, Global role focuses on all elements, both strategic and operational, associated with R&D Program Management. Will oversee (1) Research Project Management, (2) Development Planning & Project Management (3) TA Operations, (4) Functional Project Management for the respective therapeutic area.
Responsibilities:
R&D Program Management
1. You will provide Program Management within the portfolio and across geographies, including New Product Development and Life Cycle Management
2. Lead identification of project acceleration and risk management options, while ensuring solutions are flexible to support innovation
3. Provide strategic leadership and approaches for accelerated development planning and delivery of R&D portfolio
4. Be an important member of the POE LT to ensure success of the group and create a culture of connectivity, delivery, empowerment and transformation
5. Provide guidance and direction to the Research and Development Project Management staff to ensure Project Management practices and methodologies are applied to all R&D projects within our portfolio
TA Operations
6. Run "TA operations", supporting the TA Co-Leads and the TA Leadership Team (TALT) in a designated TA ensuring the smooth running of the TA following PD&C framework, while overseeing TA projects to maximally deliver the value TALT intended
7. Ensure seamless interactions between TALT and critical partners to the TA, and the efficient functioning of the matrix within the TA
8. Coordinate framework for developing TA processes to ensure product strategy plans align with the TA strategy
9. Co-ordinates the TA strategic planning process ensuring that the outcome of planning processes are integrated, documented and have appropriate approvals
10. Support R&D and Commercial NPO due diligence activities
11. Work with Portfolio Management Function to ensure TA portfolio information is integrated into portfolio plans and analysis to support TA portfolio investment management and the development of TA priorities
12. Deliver identified plans in the TA that extend across the PD&C framework
13. Lead TA review of projects in portfolio including timelines, cost and resources
14. On behalf of the TALT/co-leads all relevant messages and Q&As for internal and external briefings
15. In partnership with the co-leads, provides guidance to PSTs and departments to ensure that long-term product forecast meets the priorities of the TA.
Talent/Management Responsibilities & Accountabilities
16. Lead a global organization with a set of high-complexity goals and interfaces
17. Oversee sub-functions, with individual objectives
18. Requires oversight of a global, multilevel function with a leadership team comprised of director/senior director levels
19. Total of ~10--20 staff members located in Europe, US and Australia
20. Establish priorities, competency framework and performance expectations designed to support and develop talent to excel and grow professionally
Education & Requirements:
21. 12+ years of experience in digital transformation, PMO, or portfolio management within R&D, biotech, or pharma
22. Experience managing digital programs or portfolios.
23. Expertise in managing cross-functional projects and complex program portfolios
24. Operational planning skills, with knowledge of portfolio management tools (e.g., Planview, Smartsheet, Jira)
25. Understanding of R&D processes and digital strategy trends in the life sciences sector
26. Experience in digital architecture strategy, solution design, or enterprise architecture within R&D, with understanding of integration patterns, data flows, and platform scalability
27. Experience with vendor and external partner governance
