Job Description
The BE-CEM-MTA team has developed a software framework called RADE, using LabVIEW, to facilitate the development of measurement and analysis applications. These tools aim to increase the efficiency of target production and development, assisting operators and users in tuning the ion source and the machine.
You will join the RILIS support team to help improve the framework. Your tasks will include developing features that integrate into the existing control infrastructure using MTA tools. This role offers a valuable opportunity to collaborate closely with Physicists and Laser Experts and to understand the basics of accelerator control.
Responsibilities
1. Use LabVIEW on Windows and/or Linux depending on the environment.
2. Develop monitoring and control systems using LabVIEW Real-Time and FPGA.
3. Participate in the development, installation, and maintenance of applications in facilities such as RILIS and the photoemission lab.
4. Work within the RADE development team to learn the BE-CEM-MTA working standards.
5. Study how CERN beam lines operate.
6. Implement dedicated tools based on internal client requirements and CEM guidelines.
7. Develop automated tests for the tools using Jenkins.
8. Document work on the section's Wiki pages.
9. Support deployed applications and participate in their maintenance.
Your Profile
Skills
* Knowledge of software engineering practices (source code management and bug tracking).
* Proficiency in LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time, and LabVIEW FPGA.
* Knowledge of Python is an advantage.
* Knowledge of Jenkins is an advantage.
* Ability to work effectively in a team.
* Good communication skills.
* Basic knowledge of Linux and Windows.
* Proficiency in spoken and written English or French, with a willingness to learn the other language.
Eligibility Criteria
* Be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
* By the application deadline, have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software Engineering or a related field, with the highest educational qualification being a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* Have never previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
* Applicants without a university degree are not eligible.
* Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
