The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH) is a Swiss foundation based in Geneva, with the privileges and immunities of an international organization. As the leading global fund exclusively dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage in conflict areas, ALIPH supports concrete projects in the fields of prevention, emergency response and rehabilitation. To fulfill its mission, the foundation requires the financial support of States, foundations and private donors.
About the position
This role is offered as a maternity leave replacement from 1 June 2026 to 31 January 2027 at 75%.
Under the authority of the Programs Director, the Project Manager coordinates grant applications, supports the evaluation process, and monitors funded projects. He or she works collaboratively with other project managers, as well as the Finance Department.
Key responsibilities
* Act as one of the Secretariat’s points of contact for enquiries pertaining to the application process and assist potential grantees with the application process;
* Contribute to the evaluation and pre-selection of funding requests (narrative and financial), ensuring technical quality and relevance of the proposed projects;
* Assist in the implementation of compliance, due diligence and risk assessment procedures;
* Draft grant agreements in accordance with ALIPH policies;
* Manage day-to-day administration of the grant management activities, including the tracking and review of interim and final reports (both narrative and financial);
* Monitor projects when required and contribute to post-project evaluations;
* Maintain and work with ALIPH’s online grant management platform;
* Produce internal and external reports on grants and projects and contribute to communication activities on the projects;
* Develop briefings and overviews related to climate change, heritage and conflict in the countries where ALIPH operates;
* Contribute to ALIPH’s development of sustainability indicators for project selection, monitoring and evaluation;
Professional skills and experience
* Higher education, Master degree in cultural heritage, conservation science, or international relations.
* At least 3 years of experience related to cultural heritage protection and project management in crisis areas. Experience in architecture, collections or conservation would be an asset.
* Proven experience and knowledge in grant management, including the financial, administrative and legal aspects of multi-year grant projects.
* Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities within a small organization, capacity to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Great interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies (governmental organizations, IO, NGOs, academia).
* Initiative and team spirit, with experience working in multicultural environments.
* Proficient computer skills especially Excel and PowerPoint as well as database management.
* Fluent in English and French. Knowledge of another language would be an asset.
