What you’ll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
* Developing and structuring tailor-made solutions by considering the Construction Underwriting strategy and Underwriting policy to win new business and retain existing customers in the area of building construction works, green and renewable projects, oil/gas/chemical installations, power generation through to open-cut mining
* Proactively foster positive relationship with clients to get mutual understanding of their needs
* Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure clients satisfaction and respond to client and AXA XL queries in a timely manner
* Assessing the risk technically, evaluating appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the Construction Sector, reinsurance cessions as well as the underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability
* Initiate opportunities for cross-selling
* Ensure proper hand-over for timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to AXA XL's quality standards (including policy-, invoice- and endorsement issuance)
* The Underwriter Construction may have a responsibility for the development of skills, knowledge and competencies of less experienced colleagues
* Develop best practice and share underwriting knowledge within the team
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent team player
* Engineer ETH/FH with outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
* Insurance-related experience as a Construction/Engineering Underwriter with thorough technical knowledge of underwriting, rating methodologies, forms and business processes is a plus
* Basic understanding of global and domestic construction underwriting. Large account experience is a plus
* Excellent communication skills in German and English, further language skills are a plus
* Outstanding marketing, presentation and negotiation skills
* Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers and trading partners
* Excellent decision-making skills
* Very good knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
* Willingness to work flexible and to travel

* Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, efficient and able to work independently by structuring the path forward
* Motivated and solution-oriented personality that thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic and high energy environment
* Proficient in standard MS Office tools
