The SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics is an internationally recognized non‑profit organization dedicated to biological and biomedical data science. Role Summary
We are looking for an Events Manager to join our Communications and Scientific Events team and contribute to the successful delivery of ECCB 2026, Europe’s leading conference in computational biology hosted by SIB in Geneva.
This role coordinates logistics, liaises with scientific committees and partners, and ensures smooth implementation of specific activities from planning to on‑site execution.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate tutorials and workshops (T&W) and focus sessions in collaboration with committees and organizers.
o Plan and organize meetings (invitations, agendas, minutes and follow‑up).
o Support the review and selection process: compile summaries, coordinate evaluations, notify submitters, and track participation confirmations.
o Liaise with organizers and invited speakers for detailed schedules and deadline compliance.
o Manage logistical arrangements: room allocations, equipment, materials, on‑site requirements.
o Ensure accurate integration of programme details into the conference website and online agenda.
o Lead on‑site delivery, coordinating volunteers and resolving real‑time issues.
o Promote sessions through newsletters, targeted mailings and social media posts.
* Design and coordinate the conference social and networking activities with the Social Committee.
o Identify and liaise with local partners, venues and suppliers.
o Manage registrations, communications and participant information.
o Supervise on‑site activities, acting as main contact for participants, partners and volunteers.
* Oversee procurement, production and delivery of conference materials (bags, signage, goodies, stickers, etc.).
o Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure materials match branding and timeline requirements.
o Handle participant and stakeholder communications for assigned areas.
o Provide a structured programme and design progress updates for the Events team.
o Contribute to post‑event activities: financial reconciliation, feedback analysis and reporting.
* Support additional activities as needed depending on workload and priorities.
Qualifications
* Education and Experience
o University degree in Communications, Event Management or a related field, or equivalent.
o At least five years of experience in organising large‑scale events or conferences, preferably in a scientific context.
o Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders throughout all event phases.
* Technical Skills
o Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o Proficiency with office and collaboration tools (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
o Ability to update and maintain website content via a content management system.
o Experience with social media and newsletter communication for events.
o Strong command of English and French (minimum C1 level).
o Familiarity with conference‑management platforms (e.g. EasyChair) is an asset.

Location: Based in Lausanne with flexibility to work from Geneva and from home.
