About Our Technology
While the electric power demands for single data centers are breaking the Gigawatt barrier, their power delivery architecture hasn't changed in decades and is based on a 100-year old transformer technology that is bulky, inefficient, and suffers from lead times of 18-24 months.
We are here to fix this problem.
Our SSTs are 10× smaller than existing solutions, use ~90% less material, and achieve up to 98.5% energy-conversion efficiency, cutting lead times from years to months. Our SSTs electrify the future!
The Role
Hyperscale Power is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for Power Electronics to join our team.
In this crucial role, you will take ownership of the mechanical design of our SST and develop it from a concept to a product. You work closely together with our elite team of power electronics experts to find the best solution for the compact integration of power electronics, magnetics, and the cooling system into one unit.
What you will do
* Modeling and design of electro-mechanical parts and assemblies including plastics, sheet metal, insulation systems, magnetic components, cooling systems, and other components
* Mechanical design analysis including thermal, CFD, structural, design for assembly, and design for test
* Electrical isolation, sealing, thermal management, interconnection, shock and vibration management
* Lead the construction of prototypes and test assemblies
* Collaborate with other engineers to take designs from concept through prototype to mass production
* Mentor other team members and support the development of less-experienced engineers on best practices in mechanical engineering
Your Qualifications
* Bachelor"s or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
* 4+ years of full-time industry experience in mechanical design-related field or demonstrated technical excellence in product design and analysis
* Strong background in integration of power electronics
* Strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stacks, design for manufacturing/automation/test/reliability (DFM/DFA/DFT/DFR).Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA
* Experience with modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), & multi-physics simulations
* Experience with environmental, reliability, safety, and industry standards for power delivery products
* Basic understanding of electrical design fundamentals. Familiarity with PCBAs and PCBA components
* Experience with high volume manufacturing and automated assembly processes
