OverviewA PhD student position is available at the University of Bern, Switzerland, to join the research group of Prof. Elisa Maina (Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Division of Clinical Dermatology) in collaboration with the Division of Veterinary Anatomy. The successful candidate will work on research projects within feline dermatology, focusing on feline hypersensitivity syndrome, involving clinical case work and laboratory-based investigations to improve understanding, diagnosis, and management of pruritic skin diseases in cats.ResponsibilitiesAcquire and consolidate advanced skills in clinical veterinary dermatology, with a focus on the diagnostic approach to cats with hypersensitivity syndrome.Recruitment and clinical evaluation of feline dermatology cases.Recording clinical data and lesion distribution using standardized tools.Collection of relevant biological samples.Participation in laboratory analyses in collaboration with the Division of Veterinary Anatomy and other partner laboratories.Data analysis, preparation of scientific manuscripts, and presentation of results at national and international conferences.Contribution to teaching and supervision of students in clinical or laboratory activities.RequirementsMaster\'s degree (or equivalent) in veterinary medicine, biology, biomedical sciences, or a related fieldStrong interest in dermatology, neurobiology, and translational researchVery good command of English (written and spoken); German and French is an advantageMotivation for independent research and teamworkPrevious experience in microscopy, histology, molecular biology, or clinical dermatology is an asset but not mandatoryWe offerA high quality of life in SwitzerlandFlexible working hours where possibleAccess to state-of-the-art clinical and microscopy facilitiesSupportive and collaborative research environmentSalary according to Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) guidelinesDuration: 3 – 4 yearsStarting date: to be discussedApplication and ContactPlease send your application in ONE PDF file to elisa.maina@unibe.ch including:Your CVA motivation letterNames and contact details (or letters) of two academic referenceswww.karriere.unibe.ch Rechtliche Hinweise
